Born from foundational research during a PhD in Dermatology at the University of Cape Town, our mission is to deliver science-driven, Africa-made therapeutics that address complex biological pathways with precision and safety.

Our work began with a simple, profound question: could we find a more effective, safer solution for androgenetic alopecia (hair loss) and its related conditions? The answer led us to a groundbreaking discovery: the BSY compound family.

The BSY Breakthrough:

The BSY compound emerged from the systematic screening of hundreds of molecules for their ability to selectively inhibit the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase type 2 (SRD5A2). This enzyme is a key driver in both androgenetic alopecia and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Unlike existing treatments, BSY demonstrated a unique binding mechanism, high selectivity, and minimal off-target effects, positioning it as a next-generation alternative. This discovery marked our transition from cosmetic formulation to true pharmaceutical R&D.

Our Pipeline: Advancing a Portfolio of Analogues

Building on our lead compound, we are developing a portfolio of six proprietary BSY analogues. Our pipeline is designed to refine therapeutic potential, optimize delivery, and expand into new indications.
